North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust is at a truly exciting time of transformation. Through our Trust Strategy we will achieve the delivery of safe, accessible, high quality and sustainable healthcare services in north Cumbria for the next generation.
The Trust has had to rise to a number of challenges in recent years and is now on a rapid path of improvement. The Trust is committed to the long term development of a culture of continuous improvement as a way of working across all areas of the organisation to respond to changes in health care need and demand. The post holder will be expected to be flexible and open to changes, to identify opportunities for improvement and to play an active role in developing, implementing and sustaining improvements to working practices and patient services.
A new state-of-the-art hospital has opened in Whitehaven, representing the single biggest investment in healthcare in west Cumbria for over 50 years. This is a really important milestone for our organisation which will allow us to further expand our range of local services as we continue to improve safety and quality.
The Trust provides a comprehensive range of general acute hospital services; we are currently working with the Commissioners to help develop a comprehensive service for the whole of Cumbria, which will work cooperatively with other providers in the area.
A full-time opportunity has arisen in the Trust for a dynamic and self-motivated person to join the PALS team based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, but with a requirement to work across both sites (Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven).
The successful applicant will act independently and will be the first point of contact for patients, their families and carers to assist with queries and concerns about care and treatment and will liaise with the clinical teams to negotiate immediate or prompt resolution for service users.
The successful applicant will provide confidential advice and signpost enquirers to appropriate services, providing guidance through the different services available from the NHS and accept compliments on behalf of the Trust as well as advising on the complaints policy.
If you have the skills, passion and commitment for the achievement of excellent standards for patient experience we would welcome your application.
Applicants will possess GCSE in English Language, Grade C or equivalent and NVQ4 in customer services or equivalent. Essential IT skills or equivalent and a Management certificate or equivalent is desirable. You will have experience of working as part of a team, working with the general public both face to face and by telephone, admin and secretarial duties and of working in a caring or office environment.
The post offers the opportunity to live in an area of outstanding natural beauty including the Lake District National Park with:
* highly desirable country and executive properties at realistic prices
* an excellent standard of education from both state and private schools
* excellent road (M6) and rail communications, and easy access to major airports
* Scottish Border region, South West Scotland and the Pennines all easily accessible.
