Employer:Kent Community Health NHS Foundation TrustDepartment:Safeguarding Specialist AdvisorLocation:Gravesham Community Hospital, GravesendSalary:31,696 - 41,787 pro rata per annum

Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust provides wide-ranging NHS care for people, in their community, in a range of settings including people's own homes; nursing homes; health clinics; community hospitals; minor injury units; a walk-in centre and in mobile units.
We are one of the largest NHS community health providers in England, serving a population of about 1.4 million. We employ 5,000 staff, including community nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians, and many other healthcare professionals.
Our vision is to deliver excellent services which improve the health of our communities. To do this we need to have outstanding people who share a common set of values and aspirations.
Our values (CARE) demonstrate that the Trust acts with integrity and professionalism. CARE stands for:

The Safeguarding Service is a combined Children and Adults Team, comprising of both Named Nurses for Children & Adults and Safeguarding Specialist Advisors for Children & Adults.

The Safeguarding Specialist Advisor (Children) will have a key role in promoting good professional practice and providing key elements of the Safeguarding Agenda. Under the guidance of the Named Nurses for Safeguarding Children, the post holder will take the lead in providing training, supervision, specialist advice and support related to safeguarding children. The post holder will also contribute to developing and supporting the skills of frontline practitioners, particularly in relation to assessment of risk with the emphasis on solution focussed outcomes for children and young people.

The post holder should have significant experience of working with children and families and have an in depth knowledge base and understanding of safeguarding children. This includes representing the Trust at Multi Agency meetings; therefore experience in partner agency working is useful. In addition, the post holder will need a good understanding of the Safeguarding Adult agenda, as there is an expectation that the post holder will deliver parts of the Adult Safeguarding training to the Children and Young People's Workforce.

This is a challenging role, which requires the post holder to be able to travel across the Trust geographically to support the wider team.

The post holder will be expected to develop their skills as a Safeguarding Specialist Advisor within the framework of the Job description, including supporting the Named Nurses in developing key work streams and deputising when appropriate.

The successful candidate will be based within the Safeguarding team in North/ West Kent although service delivery across the Trust requires flexibility to travel.

The post is for 30 hours per week.

Interviews are scheduled for the 18th & 20th September 2017.
