Job Reference: 349-SMH-0622
Employer:Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation TrustDepartment:Obstetrics and GynaecologyLocation:St Mary's Hospital, ManchesterSalary:30,302 to 47,647 per annum
Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) will join together to create a new Foundation Trust in October 2017 which will be named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust; subject to required approvals. Following this, the plan is for North Manchester General Hospital (which is currently part of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust) to join the new organisation around 12-18 months later.
As a result of this plan, it's such an extremely exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Greater Manchester and one that provides a wealth of opportunity. Our new organisation will provide a single hospital service across the city of Manchester and in 12- 18 months will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital. These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester.
Applicants are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The post will offer training in general obstetrics and gynaecology but also offer the possibility to develop advanced skills and complete advanced training modules.
The post is available until August 2018, with possible further extension and would be particularly suited for post-CCT training.
Saint Mary's Hospital is a large teaching hospital which provides both secondary level care for its local population and tertiary level care for women across the North West of England. The workload is therefore varied and interesting. Services are based in a modern purpose-built facility. This stimulating and pleasant working environment provides opportunities for developing general skills in obstetrics and gynaecology, but also provides the opportunity to gain experience of the more specialised areas such as feto-maternal medicine, gynaecological oncology, reproductive medicine and uro-gynaecology. Clinical services are also provided at Trafford Hospital and Salford Royal Hospital.
The post holder will work at a level equivalent to that of an ST3+ trainee and participate in the On Call rota including nights. Applicants must have completed Foundation competencies either as part of the UK Foundation programme or demonstrate equivalent training. Applicants must be able to demonstrate O & G competencies equivalent to at least ST4 level. Basic Life Support training is essential. We would welcome applications from doctors wishing to work part time or on a job share basis.
Whilst this post is not recognised for training, the appointee will be supported by an Educational Supervisor to meet their career and educational goals.
